The Massimadi Foundation has a mandate of inclusion in the Montreal and Quebec artistic landscape. Its mission is to perpetuate, disseminate, and produce works and cultural knowledge from LGBTQ+ and Afro-descendant artists. This mission is accomplished through various projects, the main one being the annual Massimadi Afro LGBTQ+ Arts and Film Festival, the only festival in Quebec dedicated entirely to the imaginaries of black queer culture from here and elsewhere.
At the request of our audience, and recognizing the cultural significance and distinctive role that the Massimadi Festival plays in the Montreal landscape, we have decided to channel our efforts into one larger and more magnificent festival. Therefore, this year, we will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the festival with an innovative and unprecedented program, merging our two annual festivals into one grand event from September 11th to September 30th, 2023. The theme of this fifteenth edition will be 'Celebrations.'
