Synopsis
Une personne comme moi suit les parcours parallèles de Drake, un demandeur d’asile gai originaire de l’Ouganda, et de membres de la communauté queer vancouvéroise qui ne se connaissent pas, mais s’unissent pour soutenir sa réinstallation au Canada. Ensemble, l’espace d’une année, les protagonistes entreprennent une quête de liberté personnelle qui nous amène à constater que, dans un monde où il faut constamment lutter pour le droit d’exister, la survie devient en soi une victoire.

Very moving story, and showing the reality of life adjustment for both the sponsored and sponsors. Above all I like that the movie teaches us that when we come together, LGBTQ+ and allies, we re-create a stronger sense of community with projects such as Rainbow railroad. I wish for such social care projects, like for the elders or other initiatives.
