Massimadi, since 2009, has been a unique space for encounters, celebration and resistance, where Afro LGBTQ+ cinema and arts take their rightful place, carried by vibrant, bold and profoundly human narratives.

Submissions for the 18th edition, to be held in October 2026, are opening on February 1, 2026. We invite Afro-queer directors, producers and artists to submit their films and share their perspectives, stories and imaginations.

We accept queer films featuring Black, African, or Afro-descendant characters. All formats are welcome: fiction, documentary, experimental, short and feature films.

For this edition, the festival is broadening its scope by giving a central place to the voices of Indigenous peoples and Two-Spirit individuals. We wish to celebrate these essential stories.
