Are you a Black or Indigenous filmmaker from 2SLGBTQ+ communities?
Momentum is looking for YOUR stories.
About the program
After a successful first edition, the Momentum project is back! Momentum is a mentorship program that supports the development of powerful and authentic stories. Its mission is to discover, support, and amplify the voices of Black and Indigenous filmmakers from 2SLGBTQ+ communities, so they can tell their stories with accuracy, creativity, and freedom.
Running for nearly a year (September 2026 to summer 2027), the program offers selected filmmakers comprehensive support: workshops, training sessions, conferences, and personalized mentorship provided by recognized industry professionals. This program allows them to deepen their creative process, structure their screenplay, develop their documentary project, and acquire the necessary tools to integrate into the Quebec and Canadian film industry.
Through Momentum, the Massimadi Foundation continues its commitment to contributing to the creation and promotion of Canadian documentary works written and directed by 2SLGBTQ+ filmmakers of African descent and Indigenous people. By supporting these often underrepresented voices, Momentum helps combat prejudice and discrimination against 2SLGBTQ+ people from these two communities.
Momentum reaffirms the essential role of documentary as a tool for transmission, reflection and creation at a time when the erasure of certain realities remains a major issue.
